Frequently asked questions
Do you take insurance?
We are in the process of applying to insurance panels for associate therapists. Please contact us for more details.
Currently all of our therapists are considered out of network providers with most insurance companies. This means that that we do not bill insurance directly. If your insurance company offers out of network mental health coverage your therapist can provide you with a particular type of receipt – called a superbill – that you can submit to your insurance company to be reimbursed. Full payment is required at the time of service.
How do I know if I have out of network mental health coverage?
Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask “Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?”
If the answer is “no” then insurance will not reimburse you for sessions with me. You can still choose to work with me knowing that you will not be reimbursed, or you can look for a therapist who is in-network with your insurance.
If the answer is “yes,” here are additional questions you may want to ask:
“Can I be reimbursed for a licensed independent clinical social worker?”
“Do I have a deductible? If so, how much is the deductible and how much is remaining?”
“Is there a co-payment or co-insurance to use out-of-network mental health benefits?”
“Is there a limit to how many mental health visits per year will be reimbursed?”
“What is the process for submitting out-of-network claims to be reimbursed?”
Do you use A.I. to assist with note taking?
No, our practice does not use any form of A.I. to assist with therapy or in writing progress notes. We take confidentiality and quality care seriously, and will never expose your data anywhere beyond the secure, HIPPA compliant electronic health record system we use. Progress notes are used to track themes and progress. Actively writing a progress note after each session is part of the therapeutic work and we will not outsource that care and attention.
What in-person COVID precautions do you take?
Creating an accessible office, including for disabled and immunocompromised clients, is important to us. We follow ongoing science about COVID transmission. For in-person appointments the office is equipped with two air purifiers and has a window. You will not be judged for wearing a mask, and we maintain a stock of KN95 and N95 masks in-office. All of our therapists are happy to wear a mask when asked; you do not need to provide any justification when letting us know.
Is the office wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our office is on the first floor of a craftsman building with ramp access in the back of the building. Our office door accommodates a wheelchair, and the building has wheelchair accessible bathrooms on the first floor.
